The Magasin Sennelier in 1900

Even if this place went through a bit more than a century it always preserved its particular atmosphere the charm of which attracted several artists as Cézanne, Gauguin, Soutine, Modigliani, Kandinsky, Bonnard, Picasso, Cocteau and many others.
Today in 2003 you will see that the store has not changed except electricity that replaced gas ! And of course the man who used to grinding pigments with a granite mortar disappeared... But the magic of colours always works on all of us.

The grinder of colours

In 1936 Sennelier brothers opened a second store in Montparnasse located at 4 bis, rue de la Grande Chaumière, in 6st arrondissement to take part in the "Montparnassian" adventure.
